Materials Needed:

  • Internet access

Imagine I provided a spaghetti lunch for our class—and I gave you all scissors as an eating utensil.

  • What would it be like to have such an unconventional tool to eat your plate of spaghetti? (Allow teens to share their thoughts.)
  • How does the tool you have affect the outcome? (Allow several students to answer; opinions may vary.)
  • Have you ever been in a situation where you were asked to do something but weren’t sure you had the right resources you needed to accomplish the job? Tell us about it. (Be prepared to share your own experience to get the conversation going. Ask students to share what they did to “make do,” or if they had to abandon the project completely.)

Man Eats Spaghetti With Scissors

At first glance, this guy appeared to have a ridiculous tool to eat spaghetti! Who uses scissors as an eating utensil? But he knew what he was doing, came equipped with a tool he knew would help, and proceeded with confidence. In the end, he had a tool that helped him.

The right tools are necessary in order to be the most successful in completing any task. God equips us with the necessary tools to be overcomers in our battles against the enemy. Today we will learn what those tools are and how best to use them.
