Welcome your students to class. As everyone gathers, ask your students to brainstorm one thing they wish they could invent to help the world.

Let’s watch a video of a groundbreaking invention someone made recently that is helping the world.

How Seabins Work – Vancouver Plastic Cleanup

  • What are your thoughts on the seabin invention? (Answers will vary. Some may comment positively, while others may comment on how huge the problem is and how limited the application of their solution is.)
  • What are some of the biggest issues the world has right now that people could help with? (Answers will vary. Natural disasters, mass shootings, pollution, poverty, hunger, etc.)
  • What do you think stops people from helping with these issues? (Money, politics, they are busy with other things, they don’t know about the problem, they don’t think they could help, etc.)

Our lesson for today teaches us about the early church not long after Jesus ascended into heaven. The early church needed help. They were growing and changing. Let’s dive into some of their challenges and the solutions God led them to.
