If your class is meeting online, invite students to bring supplies with them to class. Once you’ve finished Step 3, ask a student to read the memory verse: 1 Corinthians 12:4,7.

• Why are we supposed to use the gifts God has given us? (For the common good, for God’s glory.)
• What gifts do you have that could be used for the common good (and for God’s glory)? (Answers will vary. Encourage your students to think about all different kinds of gifts such as music, sports, math, kindness, love, listening, including others, etc.)

No matter what happens in the world around us, God’s kingdom is still moving. We still have the responsibility to serve others and serve the church. While there’s lots of bad news out there, there are also lots of amazing stories of people going above and beyond to use what they have—their time, money, or gifts—to help people.

• Who are some of the people who help keep our lives and communities running day after day? (Parents, teachers, healthcare workers, sanitation workers, electricians, etc.)

Ask your students to pray about and consider how they can be a helper and serve their church and community right now. Ask them to choose one concrete idea they can do this week, then write it on a piece of paper. After a few minutes, invite volunteers to share what they wrote. Be prepared to share your own idea of how you’ll help this week.

End in prayer, thanking God for the gifts He has given each of you. Ask God to help you see ways you can use your gifts, both within your family and in your larger community.
